ISO 9001

ISO 9001:2015 is the fifth and current edition of the international standard for quality management systems (QMS), specifying requirements for a company to consistently provide products or services that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements. It's process- and risk-based rather than prescriptive about how quality is achieved, covering leadership commitment, planning, resource management, operational controls, performance evaluation, and continual improvement. It's the most widely adopted ISO management standard globally — manufacturers pursue it most visibly, but service companies and software vendors use it too, often to satisfy customer procurement requirements. A revised edition is expected around September 2026, with a transition period to follow for currently certified companies.
